According to recent data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, in April, 2019, South Dakota added the highest number of jobs to the local government justice, public order, and safety activities industry (), followed by Illinois (541), and Massachusetts (290).

On the other hand, New York added the least number of jobs (-732), followed by Virginia (-205), and Wisconsin (-193).
