According to recent data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, in March, 2019, Alabama added the highest number of jobs to the private general merchandise stores industry (248), followed by Mississippi (134), and Arkansas (50).

On the other hand, California added the least number of jobs (-3,215), followed by Texas (-2,865), and New York (-1,433).
