According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of California was 6.8% (sa) in September, 2002. Among all California counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Imperial (17.5%), Tulare (9.7%), and Kings (9.3%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Napa (4.1%), San Luis Obispo (4.6%), and Sonoma (4.8%).
