According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of California was 6.9% (sa) in January, 2003. Among all California counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Colusa (22.3%), Plumas (15%), and Kings (14.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Mono (4.6%), San Luis Obispo (5%), and Orange (5%).
