According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Florida was 4.9% (sa) in August, 2002. Among all Florida counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Hendry (12.3%), Hardee (9.5%), and Indian River (8.3%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Monroe (3.5%), Union (3.6%), and Okaloosa (3.7%).
