According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Illinois was 6.4% (sa) in January, 2004. Among all Illinois counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Boone (10.6%), Alexander (10.1%), and Pope (10.1%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Brown (4.5%), McLean (4.6%), and Champaign (4.8%).
