According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Iowa was 6.3% (sa) in March, 2009. Among all Iowa counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Hancock (14%), Winnebago (13.7%), and Allamakee (12.6%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Johnson (4.3%), Shelby (4.5%), and Story (4.7%).
