According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Michigan was 7.2% (sa) in September, 2006. Among all Michigan counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Montcalm (13.3%), Baraga (9.9%), and Lake (9.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Mackinac (3.5%), Leelanau (4.4%), and Washtenaw (4.9%).
