According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Michigan was 8.4% (sa) in August, 2008. Among all Michigan counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Baraga (12%), Oscoda (12%), and Montcalm (11.8%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Mackinac (4.4%), Leelanau (5.6%), and Clinton (5.7%).
