According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Michigan was 7.2% (sa) in January, 2008. Among all Michigan counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Mackinac (22.5%), Presque Isle (18.4%), and Cheboygan (18%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Washtenaw (4.9%), Kalamazoo (5.4%), and Isabella (5.5%).
