According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New York was 8.1% (sa) in April, 2009. Among all New York counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Bronx (10.6%), Essex (10.3%), and Hamilton (9.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Tompkins (5.2%), Saratoga (6.1%), and Putnam (6.4%).
