According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New York was 7.1% (sa) in January, 2009. Among all New York counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Lewis (11%), Schoharie (10.8%), and St. Lawrence (10.7%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Tompkins (5.5%), Putnam (6.1%), and Rockland (6.2%).
