According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Texas was 6.9% (sa) in April, 2003. Among all Texas counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Maverick (19.4%), Starr (15.9%), and Zavala (14%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hemphill (2.8%), King (2.9%), and Kenedy (3%).
