According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Texas was 6.8% (sa) in August, 2003. Among all Texas counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Presidio (18.3%), Zavala (13.5%), and Sabine (12.8%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hemphill (2.8%), Sutton (3.1%), and Sterling (3.3%).
