According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 7.8% (sa) in April, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Wahkiakum (15.4%), Pend Oreille (15.2%), and Ferry (13.7%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Whitman (4.9%), King (5.3%), and Garfield (6.2%).
