According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 9.2% (sa) in December, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Wahkiakum (14.6%), Pend Oreille (14.5%), and Ferry (14.2%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Whitman (5.2%), Walla Walla (7.3%), and Kitsap (7.3%).
