According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 7.5% (sa) in March, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Pend Oreille (16.8%), Ferry (16.1%), and Wahkiakum (15.6%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): King (5.5%), Whitman (5.6%), and Snohomish (6.6%).
