According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Washington was 8.1% (sa) in May, 2009. Among all Washington counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Pend Oreille (14.1%), Wahkiakum (13.8%), and Grays Harbor (13%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Whitman (4.9%), Garfield (5.8%), and Walla Walla (6%).
