According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 5.8% (sa) in January, 2003. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Oregon (7.6%), Alaska (7.5%), and Washington (7.2%).
On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: South Dakota (3.3%), North Dakota (3.5%), and Hawaii (3.7%).
