According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 5.4% (sa) in September, 2004. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: District of Columbia (7.8%), Alaska (7.3%), and Oregon (7.2%).
On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: Hawaii (3.2%), North Dakota (3.4%), and Vermont (3.5%).
