According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 4.9% (sa) in December, 2005. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Mississippi (7.6%), Alaska (7%), and Michigan (6.7%).

On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: Hawaii (2.7%), North Dakota (3.2%), and Virginia (3.3%).
