According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 7.3% (sa) in December, 2008. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Michigan (10.1%), Rhode Island (9.7%), and North Carolina (9.6%).
On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: North Dakota (3.6%), Wyoming (3.7%), and South Dakota (3.9%).
