According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 5.8% (sa) in July, 2008. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Michigan (8.1%), Rhode Island (7.7%), and California (7.3%).
On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: Wyoming (2.9%), South Dakota (3.1%), and North Dakota (3.1%).
