According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 6.1% (sa) in September, 2008. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Michigan (8.7%), Rhode Island (8.4%), and California (8%).
On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: Wyoming (3.1%), North Dakota (3.2%), and Utah (3.4%).
