US Unemployment Rate By State in January, 2009

According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 7.8% (sa) in January, 2009. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Michigan (11%), North Carolina (10%), and Rhode Island (10%).

On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: North Dakota (3.7%), Nebraska (4.1%), and South Dakota (4.2%).
