According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 10% (sa) in October, 2009. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Michigan (13.5%), Nevada (12.8%), and California (12.3%).

On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: North Dakota (3.9%), South Dakota (4.6%), and Nebraska (4.8%).
