According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 5.9% (sa) in September, 2014. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: Nevada (7.8%), District of Columbia (7.6%), and Mississippi (7.4%).

On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: North Dakota (2.6%), Nebraska (3.1%), and South Dakota (3.3%).
