According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of the US was 4.9% (sa) in August, 2016. Among all US states and DC, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates: New Mexico (6.9%), Alaska (6.7%), and District of Columbia (6.2%).

On the hand, the following three states were among those with low unemployment rates: New Hampshire (2.9%), Hawaii (2.9%), and Vermont (3.1%).
