US Number of Total Arrests By Population Group for Aggravated Assault Offenses in 2020

According to the FBI UCR data, in 2020, there were 267,245 total arrests made in the US for aggravated assault offenses. There were 208,608 total arrests made in All Cities; 44,466 total arrests made in Metropolitan Counties; 14,171 total arrests made in Nonmetropolitan Counties; and 79,078 total arrests made in Suburban Areas.
In terms of rate of arrests per 100K inhabitants, Group I - Cities had the highest (169.2), followed by Group II - Cities (151.5), and Total Cities (130.5).

- Group I - Cities: Cities with a population of 250,000 and over.
- Group II - Cities: Cities with a population of 100,000 to 249,999.
- Group III - Cities: Cities with a population of 50,000 to 99,999.
- Group IV - Cities: Cities with a population of 25,000 to 49,999.
- Group V - Cities: Cities with a population of 10,000 to 24,999.
- Group VI - Cities: Cities with a population under 10,000.
