Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2022, the citizen population for Connecticut was 3,366,530 and represented 93.22% of the total Connecticut population.

Among all Connecticut counties, Capitol Planning Region had the highest citizen population (917.54K), followed by Western Connecticut Planning Region (551.41K), and South Central Connecticut Planning Region (535.71K).

In terms of percentages, Northeastern Connecticut Planning Region had the highest percentage of its population being citizens (97.70%), followed by Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region (97.09%), and Southeastern Connecticut Planning Region (96.51%).
