Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of the Alaska population without a health insurance coverage was 12.18% (i.e. 86,440 people). Percentagewise, among all Alaska counties, Aleutians East Borough had the highest percentage of its population with no health insurance coverage (40.01%), followed by Lake and Peninsula Borough (25.15%), and Yakutat City and Borough (24.20%).

In numerical terms, Anchorage Municipality had the highest number of people without a health insurance coverage (29,588), followed by Matanuska-Susitna Borough (14,187), and Fairbanks North Star Borough (8,547).
