Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of the New Mexico population without a health insurance coverage was 9.65% (i.e. 200,063 people). Percentagewise, among all New Mexico counties, McKinley County had the highest percentage of its population with no health insurance coverage (21.14%), followed by Roosevelt County (14.54%), and Lea County (13.82%).
In numerical terms, Bernalillo County had the highest number of people without a health insurance coverage (55,383), followed by Doña Ana County (22,798), and Santa Fe County (16,051).
