Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of the South Carolina population without a health insurance coverage was 10.46% (i.e. 521,410 people). Percentagewise, among all South Carolina counties, Saluda County had the highest percentage of its population with no health insurance coverage (17.58%), followed by Bamberg County (14.68%), and Horry County (14.24%).
In numerical terms, Greenville County had the highest number of people without a health insurance coverage (53,374), followed by Horry County (48,907), and Charleston County (39,103).
