Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, the White Alone population in South Dakota was 717,510 and represented 86.05% of the total South Dakota population (833,859).

Among South Dakota counties, Minnehaha County had the highest number of people who identified as White Alone (155,464), followed by Pennington County (87,417), and Lincoln County (46,436). Buffalo County had the lowest (312).
