Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, the American Indian and Alaska Native Alone population in the United States was 4,279,772 and represented 1.29% of the total US population (331,511,512).

Among all US states, California had the highest number of people who identified as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (670,293), followed by Arizona (375,477), and Oklahoma (374,812). Vermont had the lowest (2,480).
