According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 129,321 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in Iowa, which was 4.05% of the total Iowa population.

Polk County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (34,990), followed by Linn County (16,200), and Scott County (13,701). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Taylor County (1), Ringgold County (2), and Davis County (8).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identify as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone, Black Hawk County had the highest percentage (10.32%), followed by Johnson County (8.27%), and Scott County (7.84%).
