According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 38,741 people (of all racial backgrounds) who identified as hispanic or latino in South Dakota, which was 4.37% of the total population of South Dakota.

Minnehaha County had the highest number of of people who identified as hispanic or latino (12,034), followed by Pennington County (5,575), and Beadle County (2,741). On the other hand, the three counties with low number of people who identified as hispanic or latino were: Jones County (11), Buffalo County (13), and Haakon County (19).
