According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 13,476 people in South Dakota who identified their race as Asian Alone, which is 1.52% of the total population of South Dakota. Minnehaha County had the highest number of people who identify as Asian Alone (4,617), followed by Beadle County (2,071), and Pennington County (1,493). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Asian Alone were: Jones County (0), Harding County (0), and Hanson County (0).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Beadle County had the highest percentage, with 10.82% of its population identifying their race as Asian Alone, followed by Brookings County (2.67%), and Brown County (2.41%).
