Illinois Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,808,271 people in Illinois who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 14.11% of the total population of Illinois. Cook County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (1,205,824), followed by Will County (80,979), and St. Clair County (76,564). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Scott County (5), Calhoun County (7), and Hardin County (13).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Alexander County had the highest percentage, with 30.86% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by St. Clair County (29.75%), and Pulaski County (28.23%).
