Louisiana Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,464,023 people in Louisiana who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 31.43% of the total population of Louisiana. Orleans Parish had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (208,273), followed by East Baton Rouge Parish (206,681), and Jefferson Parish (117,892). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Cameron Parish (72), LaSalle Parish (1,299), and West Carroll Parish (1,341).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, East Carroll Parish had the highest percentage, with 69.55% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Madison Parish (62.13%), and St. John the Baptist Parish (57.22%).
