Maryland Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,820,472 people in Maryland who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 29.47% of the total population of Maryland. Prince George's County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (578,703), followed by Baltimore city (338,478), and Baltimore County (255,793). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Garrett County (246), Kent County (2,808), and Queen Anne's County (2,811).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Prince George's County had the highest percentage, with 59.83% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Baltimore city (57.79%), and Charles County (49.24%).
