According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 20,127 people in New Hampshire who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 1.46% of the total population of New Hampshire. Hillsborough County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (10,937), followed by Merrimack County (2,650), and Rockingham County (2,278). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Carroll County (134), Sullivan County (203), and Belknap County (359).
In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Hillsborough County had the highest percentage, with 2.59% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Merrimack County (1.72%), and Coos County (1.68%).
