New York Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 2,986,172 people in New York who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 14.78% of the total population of New York. Kings County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (772,050), followed by Bronx County (487,118), and Queens County (403,077). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Hamilton County (31), Schuyler County (101), and Lewis County (109).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Bronx County had the highest percentage, with 33.08% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Kings County (28.22%), and Queens County (16.76%).
