According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 9,034 people in Vermont who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 1.41% of the total population of Vermont. Chittenden County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (4,910), followed by Washington County (651), and Windham County (536). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Essex County (15), Grand Isle County (51), and Orleans County (131).
