Virginia Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,607,581 people in Virginia who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 18.63% of the total population of Virginia. Fairfax County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (110,889), followed by Henrico County (97,568), and Prince William County (97,457). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Highland County (2), Craig County (13), and Dickenson County (49).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Petersburg city had the highest percentage, with 74.16% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Emporia city (63.39%), and Greensville County (58.44%).
