According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 6,488,459 people in North Carolina who identified their race as White Alone, which is 62.15% of the total population of North Carolina. Wake County had the highest number of people who identify as White Alone (663,832), followed by Mecklenburg County (520,567), and Guilford County (263,428). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as White Alone were: Tyrrell County (1,903), Hyde County (2,956), and Washington County (4,999).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Ashe County had the highest percentage, with 91.94% of its population identifying their race as White Alone, followed by Mitchell County (91.68%), and Clay County (91.53%).
