According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2016, the number of deaths for Maine was 14,173. Cumberland County had the highest number of deaths (2,678), followed by York County (2,002), and Penobscot County (1,597). On the other hand, Piscataquis County had the lowest number of deaths (233), followed by Franklin County (314), and Waldo County (375).
