Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2010, there were 54,957 people that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone in Michigan and they represented 0.56% of the total population of Michigan in 2010. Chippewa County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone population (6,014), followed by Wayne County (5,734), and Oakland County (2,897). On the other hand, Keweenaw County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone (3), followed by Montmorency County (44), and Oscoda County (49).
