Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2019, there were 124,058 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Iowa and they represented 3.93% of the total population of Iowa in 2019. Polk County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (34,763), followed by Linn County (13,698), and Scott County (13,217). On the other hand, Van Buren County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (15), followed by Adams County (17), and Davis County (18).
