Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 693,071 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Missouri and they represented 11.53% of the total population of Missouri in 2011. St. Louis County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (234,004), followed by Jackson County (159,945), and St. Louis city (155,833). On the other hand, Scotland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (3), followed by Schuyler County (4), and Mercer County (6).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, St. Louis city had the highest percentage (48.79%), followed by Pemiscot County (26.66%), and Mississippi County (23.88%).
